Gol-o-Morgh

A recurring theme in Iranian visual culture that appears across manuscript painting, textiles, ceramics, and decorative arts is Gol-o-Morgh (flower and bird).
In Sherry‘s practice, the bird becomes a chicken, introducing a more fragile and comical figure, while also playing with the literal translation of Morgh, which means “chicken”. The project translates this historical motif into a contemporary and immediate visual system. It shifts the image from an idealized symbol toward something more vulnerable and absurd. The relationship between flower and bird becomes unstable, but more intimate, where the pair becomes a structure for expressing forms of attachment and emotional entanglement.
